BBC Three showcases new comedy - well some were "new" when the channel began - I'm thinking 2 Pints here, which I think was it's first show in 2001 (and has been repeated regularly ever since). | ||||

Clone |
Series 1 : 6 episodes - 30 minutes each. Unreleased on DVD
Comedy series revolving around the education of the first human clone. There is the titular "Clone" the superhuman killing machine that has come out of the test tube as docile as a baby with the killing instinct of a baby canary. His creator, Victor, played brilliantly by John Pryce, trying to keep his "son" alive whilst finding a way to bring back his dangerous powers, at the same time believing himself to be a real ladies man, unbeknownst to him, that most see him as a lecherous old man. Episodes1 - Alive 2 - Albert 3 - The Line 4 - The Ian Cam 5 - Dude 6 - The Librarian

Nighty Night |
Series 1 : 6 episodes - 30 minutes each. Series 2 : WANTED
What do you say about a female character who is utterly selfish and has absolutely no redeeming features? The Guardian newspaper described her as a "t*rd in leather trousers" which is along the right lines. Julia Davis both as a writer and an actress has gone where many men would fear to tread and has brought us a comedy so black it's positively shiny. A hilariously politically incorrect comedy this series examines the winners and losers in life and suggests that those out for themselves can succeed over the decent and altruistic. This series is definitely NOT for those of a nervous disposition or who do not wish to enter the belly of the beast that is modern society. The rest of the cast are excellent and special mention must go to Angus Deayton for playing a doctor with a private life far less interesting than his own and to Ruth Jones for enthusiastically playing a character who is constantly humiliated. |

My Life In Film |
My Life In Film Series 1 : 6 episodes - 30 minutes each. Unreleased on DVD
Art is a genius. It's just the world hasn't cottoned on yet. Until then, he spends his time making low budget films, working in a cinema and allowing his obsession with all things celluloid to seep into every day life. My Life in Film follows Art's day-to-day struggles as he, plus flatmate and fellow 'visionary' Jones, do their best to achieve recognition. Complicating things is Beth, Jones' girlfriend who Art loathes for complicating their friendship. So far, so ordinary, however the show has a good story-telling device - each episode is based around a classic film, allowing domestic disharmony to roll into riffs on Rear Window, The Shining, Shallow Grave... or Top Gun and others. It's fun to work out the nuances for each episode. |

BBC Three continues to enhance its reputation of producing ground-breaking, innovative comedy with this series - The Visit, written by stand-up comedian Tony Burgess (Troy in Ideal with Johnny Vegas) and set entirely in the visiting room of HMP Radford Hill – a category C prison. Stray sheep, dodgy drug deals, prostitutes with amazing foot dexterity and snatched conjugal rights are common occurrences as the inmates are reunited with loved ones and some suspicious business associates for the all-too-short weekly visit. Episodes1 - Inside 2 - Splodge 3 - Sheep 4 - Creche 5 - Lipstick Dave 6 - CCTV 7 - Rachel
