How To Watch TV
Originally shown as part of The Art Show on Channel 4, How To Watch Television is a simple animated guide on how to view the telly. Written and narrated by Charlie Brooker, How To Watch Television uses the supremely helpful format of the public information film to help guide the novice viewer through the highly complex system of actions needed to watch television. A very amusing precursor to Screenwipe in some ways. This is Charlie Brooker in full TV comedy mode but with helpfull "Tips" on how to navigate the technical minefield that is TV & improve your viewing pleasure. (watch out for the unintentionally doubly amusing section on widescreen. You'll see why.) |

Screenwipe - Series 3
Screenwipe returned for a third series in February 2007. Amongst the topics looked at were computer games, TV ratings and the skills TV presenters need. Charlie establishes that TV is a hypnotic, overbearing, desensitising and ultimately bewildering force for shit that makes un-thinking slaves of us all. Horray for telly! |

Newswipe - Series 1
Charlie Brooker's Newswipe is a Screenwipe spin-off in which the presenter firmly sets his sights on news and current affairs. The creator says: "This is new territory for me – I'm no current affairs expert. Just like, I suspect, many people, when I tune into the news I often feel like I've wandered into episode 389 of the world's most complex soap opera. So it's also about me trying to make sense of a bewildering and often bloody stupid world." |
